Pictures from Alyssa's younger days!

We don't want to miss out on posting pictures from Alyssa's earlier days! Here are some of the best pictures from the day she was born to her earliest attempts at smiling two and a half weeks later.

Here's Alyssa taking her first bath, about an hour after her birth:

In case anyone forgets which one the baby is, she's the one with the hat that says, "Baby".

Danvers and David with their babies... August is 3 months old, Alyssa is 1 week:

At 4 days old, Alyssa already took interest in contrasting geometric shapes:

6 weeks old

This week's adventures included more smiling - and smiling for longer (but still too elusive for the camera), more tummy time fun, and a visit from Oma! She's been smiling at Mommy and Daddy when we wake up in the morning, when Daddy returns from work, and with Mommy during the day. The hair she was born with has been falling out, and her new hair is growing in - it looks like peach fuzz. And now she can roll over to both sides, not just to the right.

Spending time with Oma!

Here's Mommy!

She'll be crawling before we know it:

"Hello there. I'm just sitting in this rocking chair."

Alyssa, you're so advanced!

We love watching our little 5-week old as she develops her skills. At her first pediatrician's appointment weeks ago, the doctor remarked how she was putting her hands together, a feat normally not achieved until a couple of months into baby development. "You're so advanced," the doctor said to Alyssa. Alyssa agreed.

Well, leave it to the doting parents to note that many of thing things mentioned in "What To Expect The First Year" that a baby might possibly achieve at the end of the second month are already being achieved by our little one. She's been a consistent social smiler for two weeks. She's able to roll to one side by pushing up with her left arm and letting her head weight do the rest. This morning, she started squealing in delight, and she held her head high during tummy time.

She also had a very successful bath. Until now, all of her baths have been fright fests. Today, she had a little anxiety at first, but then decided to let us bathe her without the drama. When it was done, she was all smiles and playfulness.

Today, we went for a long walk around the neighborhood. Then Aunt Alanna came for a visit, and some other friends stopped by as well.

Alyssa's first Thanksgiving

Alyssa is now 5 weeks old, and this is her first Thanksgiving! To mark the occasion, she's wearing her "My Little Turkey" bib (thanks, Heidi!).

Earlier this week, Omi came by for a special visit, during which Omi and Alyssa shared some smiles.

Welcome to Alyssa's blog!

Welcome to Alyssa's blog! Her doting parents can't wait to show off Alyssa's cuteness. For example, the video below shows Alyssa at 4 weeks. She's already smiling in response to us (and, in this case, some tickling on her belly) and expressing her contentedness. Turn up your speakers!
